“ Oye Bastardo was kind enough to open early for my Amigas Lunch group this week. They warmly greeted us with Mimosas crafted by Arturo. He blends different infusions with mint, basil and fresh fruits! The menu is just as much fun to read as it is to order from. Starters include the, oh so amazing, Poison Shrimp. Yup, it's to die for! Scrumptious beet salad, Diablo potatos, decadent cheese fondue, truffle fries and more. Each dish has plenty for 2-3 people to share. With each taco order, a stone plate arrives, holding red and green salsas, avocado, pineapple salsa and a spicy habanero. So perfect. Now the tacos arrive! Everyone was salivating as the smoked essence wafted around our table. Huge portions of smoked pork belly, salmon, pibil and barbacoa filled our table. The talking had stopped. All you could hear was OMG, this is soo good! Arturo, our incredible cocktail crafter, was busy making us mango mescalitas, margaritas, and serving cold beers. Our fabulous waitress kept our orders coming with a gracious smile on her face. She even remembered I am not a fan of onions. Now come the desserts. Maple puff pastry ice cream creation with pecans and bacon! Yes, bacon! Plus a raspberry, orange and ice cream breads followed. Once again our table was brimming with food, wonderful food! With togo containers in our hands, we all vowed to return to Oye Bastardo and savor more flavors. Highly recommend. ”
“ This is a hidden gem! The tacos are delicious and made with the finest ingredients. Don’t forget to start with the truffle oil fries and the best Aperol Spritz in SJD! ”
“ Can’t recommend this place enough. You can’t go wrong with any of the tacos (really any of the food). The agua de sandia we got was delicious too, as were all the salsas and the guacamole they provided. You can tell the meat quality is high as well. The staff are super kind, friendly, and accomodating. The place is a little tucked away, but honestly not a bad walk at all from the center of all the action. Avoid the tourist traps. Come eat here instead! ”
“ We went to OyeBastardo twice and we really liked the food. Wonderful entrees and definitely some of the best tacos in town (Lupita level but more affordable). Very relaxing courtyard to sit in with cool music. And people working there are super friendly. We highly recommend it! ”
“ We stumbled here on our way to find another taquería and I am glad we ate here instead! They had a margarita special going on and they were delicious! I ordered the salmon, carne asada, and pork tacos which were very tasty. The Papas appetizer was also a great savory add on. ”
“ Another great find in San Jose. If you want upmarket tacos at reasonable prices then this is the place to go. We had the smoked pork belly and pulled pickle which were delicious. They also have vegetarian tacos and one of our friends tried the cauliflower taco which she said was also delicious. I ordered an Aperol Spritz which was better than many I have drunk in Italy. We ordered their signature dessert wow, ”
“ This and cocina tropico were our two favorite taco spots in San Jose. Both with upscale, nearly fine dining level execution. The smoked meats here are great. The poison shrimp is great. The cocktails are great. We’re from LA so we have some taco knowledge going in. This was fantastic. You should go if you’re here. ”
“ If you like locally owned restaurants and thoughtfully presented food, please come here. It’s a fun, casual spot with a great vibe. Best mojito I’ve had in years and the cauliflower tacos are AMAZING! I wish I had been able to eat more - will have to come back. My husband is a devoted carnivore and loved the barbacoa and carne asada. ”
